AND, best of all, It's also a chance to "call out" some of the idiot sports media guys (newsprint, radio AND TV) who wrote off Brady, Belichick and the team early in the season. Steve Buckley, the self anointed "baseball dude," (who best better confine himself to baseball) wrote an article in WEEK FOUR criticizing Brady's non-committal Belichick type of answers and implying that this might be signaling the "end of the ride" for him AND Belichick. (The Pats had just been soundly beaten by K.C.) The headline was, "Even Brady has his doubts." (It was beside Karen Guregian's titled story, "It's getting harder to trust in Bill.") Sounds like the Boston media's "witch hunt" on Belichick is moving on into another gear when guys like Buckley try to chastise Tom Brady for not giving him the kind of answers HE wants to "leading" questions that HE can turn around and make into a controversy. THAT'S how the media CREATES stories out of thin air.
Here's some bits from Buckley's interview with Brady, Thursday, October 2, 2014.....
Brady was asked, at his regular mid-week press conference, a two-part question: Are you getting the protection you need and do you have the talent around you to succeed?
Brady answered, "We'll see." He gave the same answer when asked if he believes the Patriots have the "intestinal fortitude" to turn things around!! (Think of the countless number of stories THAT would have spawned if Brady had given any other comment other than "Well, we'll see." These pesky little media people, who can't figure out any REAL football questions to ask, must sit up all night trying to think up these "leading" questions.
Buckley asked, "Do you believe the Patriot's problems are correctable?" Brady replied, "I hope they're correctable." Buckley then went on to criticize Brady for NOT making a rousing speech in response to questions about the teams talent, intestinal fortitude and ability to fix what's broken.
Buckley again took a shot at Brady saying Tom's comments DID send a message. (Just another attempt by the media to put words in Brady's mouth and plant seeds (in the minds of less informed readers) for another story or two that will keep the "witch hunt" going.
Buckley then went on to talk of football analysts Trent Dilfer, Steve Young (ex-QB's) and former Patriot, Tedy Bruschi, all of whom made critical comments about the way the Patriots are being run.
Young believes the Pats are telling Brady to "suck it up," while they transition to younger players."
(Young was a great QB but he's totally inept at being a football analyst...BUT is doing fine as a MEDIA person at creating stories.)
Dilfer, now a media person, tossed this one out---"There's a dirty little secret that the Pats, and other NFL teams, are satisfied with taking in money by making the playoffs but are not driven to win the super bowl." (I guess this guy doesn't know Belichick, Brady and the rest of the guys.)
Lastly, Buckley stated that Bruschi gave a "thumbs down" to the Logan Mankins trade and to drafting Jimmy Garofolo in the second round.
Does Brady have a comment on these comments, Buckley went on. Tom's reply, "No."
Well, Buckley, he DID answer your question, didn't he?
Is he aware of these comments? Buckley continued. Tom answered, very well I thought,---
"I haven't paid attention, and probably don't pay attention to much (you guys in the media write or say) because I understand what's going on. "I know probably a lot more information than you guys have, a lot more than they have, and we're just trying to focus on things we can do better." I don't understand how it helps our team when you express whatever concerns you have to people who can't do anything about it...I don't think that helps our team. I don't think our goal is to help anyone outside our team (media included) certainly not to help our opponents. We're going to try to let our opponents figure out the things we aren't doing well and the things we ARE doing well."
NOTE:---I can't tell you how proud I was after hearing, and reading, Brady's comments to the media and the way he put them in their place. He answered their questions and didn't fall into the trap of expounding in a way that would THEY could twist things around and start a controversy that really didn't have much to do with football. Now, maybe media types will be forced to learn more about football and ask informative questions.
In the meantime----THE PATRIOTS WON THE 2015 SUPER BOWL.....ENJOY IT.....
One last little "God and St. Peter" story......Picture it---Super bowl Sunday in Heaven and God is sitting back with St. Peter watching the game. Then, all of a sudden, with less than two minutes to go,
and the Patriots leading 28-24 with the game seemingly won, Seattle makes a miraculous catch with the receiver bobbling and fumbling with the ball in mid-air and eventually grabbing it for a completion inside the Pats 10 yard line.
"Oh NO," God shouts out, "NOT AGAIN!" That's more of the Devil's work. "Pete," he says to his right hand man, " Pete Carrol's made a deal with the devil to rob the Patriots of yet another super bowl win, just like that Giants game when that N.Y. wide receiver caught the ball on his helmet, I KNEW it was the Devil's work back then but still figured the Pats would hold them, which, of course they didn't. Now it's Deja vu all over again. (sorry Yogi) Well I'm not going to sit back and let this happen all over again. Pete, (St. Peter) get out the playbook and also the Pat's roster of defensive backs. I've got an idea. By now Pete Carrol's feeling pretty cocky and, as we all know here in "Patriot's Nation," he has a tendency to out think himself. Just as they're about a yard away and "conventional wisdom" saying give the ball to Marshawn Lynch and RUNNING the ball in for a touchdown with only seconds left to play, we'll have Carrol call a pass play and have this virtually unknown rookie defensive back, Malcom Butler intercept the pass in the end zone. THAT'LL "frost" that pesky little devil and knock Pete Carrol off that high horse of his. And it'll finally even the score for the Patriots when the Devil robbed them of THAT super bowl title and gave it to the Giants.
Feeling very content that he'd finally evened up another "Devil's injustice" he said to St.
