In this young season we've seen a few ups and downs, and got very excited over their 4 game winning streak. We've seen promise from a few of the new, younger players as well as some of the veterans. Nobody can say that new head coach, Brad Stevens, hasn't been working hard at putting the best players together and trying to formulate a rotation system that will move them onward and upward. And he's been doing this without Rajon Rondo, their star point guard. I can only say be patient and enjoy the promise of good things to come,.
Tommy Heinsohn took over the horrendous job of rebuilding the storied franchise back in 1970 after Bill Russell retired. He suffered through the first year with a journeyman center, Henry Finkel but did have the benefit of leftover two stars, John Havlicek and Jo Jo White. The next year the Celts drafter Dave Cowens and the new era started to take shape. As history tells us, Tommy was the right man for the job. Red Auerbach made a great choice and, for this generation, the Celtics have as close a leader to Red as possible in Danny Ainge. His selection of Brad Stevens may very well go down in Celtic history as a genius move but, so far, it looks pretty good to me. I see growth in the younger players like Sullinger and first round choice Kelly Olynik as well as a few of the veterans have stepped into the breach and shown they are team players.
Now let's see what Danny's going to do with those first round draft picks that he's piled up. If his history, in bringing Garnett and Ray Allen here to win a world title a few years ago is any indication I can only say...look out NBA. The Boston Celtics are coming. Stay tuned.....
