My last trivia question, which I promised to answer by today, was.....
Why did the New York Yankees played their final game at the old Yankee Stadium against the Baltimore Orioles instead of their ancient rivals, the Boston Red Sox?
The Answer...Because the New York Yankees were originally..."The Baltimore Orioles."
Now for some more trivia questions...followed by one that is "guaranteed to make you money."
1)---Who was NBA rookie of the year in 1956-57 (the celtics first world championship year)?
2)---Who was NHL rookie of the year the year "after" Bobby Orr won that trophy.
3)---When was the first year the old AFL played its games?
4)---What baseball player has the highest lifetime average? (Bonus for knowing the number)
Now for the MONEY question.....Who was the first player the Boston Celtics drafted in 1956?
When I give the answers I will also include a little known story about it (or them) often on the humorous side but always informative.
NOTE---Yes, I know my questions go back several years so...if you like, call them "Ancient history" trivia. I call it reclaiming our American sports heritage because...most of these new, younger sports writers and radio/TV show hosts don't really care about REAL sports stories. All they want to do is attract audiences who may not know REAL SPORTS but want to weigh in on the social aspect of sports such as...who's on drugs, who's unhappy with his salary, who assaulted his wife/girlfriend, or any other "crime against society" including being politically incorrect. I don't feel they are sports and don't belong on the sports page. They're robbing our newest generation of their American Sports heritage. Can you imagine, here in Boston, their are 20 year olds that don't know who Carl Yaztrzemski or Johnny Most were and how much they meant to Boston Sports???
