I'd like to correct a false impression or two given by the mainstream media
First off...The Patriots did not dump Wes Welker. He was offered a contract at least as good as he got from Denver. He said he'd call back later. In the meantime Danny Amendola agreed to accept the same deal. Not wanting to risk losing both the Patriots signed Danny. When Welker called back to accept the offer it was too late. End of story. Stop trying to bash Belichick.
Secondly...Stop bashing Bobby Valentine. If John Farrell had the same bunch of misfits that Valentine had the Red Sox would be nowhere near, let alone IN the world series. The culprit is Theo Epstein who signed those big salaries and then got real friendly with some players allowing them to backdoor the manager. Ben Charrington, who has done a great job, kept it going. Valentine was a decent manager but never got a chance. To his credit he never threw anyone under the bus and certainly could have. I feel there was a lot of collusion with Epstein and Scott Boros over several deals and am expecting Jacoby Ellsbury to wind up with the Cubs as a result. Stay tuned.....
Passing on a bit of sports history of Boston.....
Casey Stengel managed the Boston Braves in 1940. He was known as a cutup and was considered to be demeaning the sport by his antics. After being scolded by the league and apologizing to the fans via the newspapers everybody waited to see if he'd behave at the start of the next game. At homeplate, as the opposing managers discussed the ground rules with the umpires everyone held their breath. Stengel never made a bad move. As they finished and he walked to the dugout the fans cheered him for being a good boy. He stopped, bowed and doffed his cap. Thereupon a canary flew out from under the cap.....TRUE STORY...stay tuned for more. Share some of your stories with us.
I'll tell you more, some about other teams like the old BROOKLYN DODGERS.
STAY TUNED.....
